LOCAL SCHOLARSHIPS

The following scholarships are specific to students attending Ewing Public Schools.  Please review these carefully and visit with Ms. Choyeski for directions with applying.

ANTELOPE MEMORIAL 

Every year Antelope Memorial Hospital awards a $500 scholarship to graduating high school seniors planning to enroll in a healthcare-related undergraduate course of study at an accredited 2- to 4-year college, university or vocational-technical school. Selection of recipients is dependent upon their academic record, participation in school and community, statement of goals/aspirations, and references.

Jody Asmussen served on the Antelope Memorial Hospital Board of Trustees for many years before acting as President for 16 ½ years, up until she lost her battle with cancer on November 27, 2009. She played a pivotal role in improving the way Antelope Memorial Hospital delivers healthcare to its patients. It is most fitting that Antelope Memorial Hospital memorialize her by assisting our area youth achieve their goal of working in healthcare.

JIM GOOD MEMORIAL

In memory of a beloved husband, dad, and grandpa, members of the Jim and Marilyn Good family have established a scholarship memorial, in the amount of $300, for a graduating senior at Ewing Public Schools.

 

Throughout the years, Jim was so much a part of the school’s daily activities and special events that we decided he would like it best to honor a Ewing Public School student.

SUNSET THRIFT STORE

The Sunset Thrift Store with the support of donors offer a service to patrons in Ewing and the surrounding area. They want to award a $250.00 scholarship to honor a Ewing High School graduate.

ST. PETER DE ALCANTRARA

PARISH ARCHFONRATERNITY

OF CHRISTIAN MOTHERS

The St. Peter de Alcantara Parish Archonfraternity of Christian Mothers will offer annual scholarships to any Catholic graduating high school seniors of St. Peter de Alcantara Parish CCD program who meet the application requirements.  The $250 scholarship will serve to inspire young Catholic men and women to continue living out their catholic faith at the college level.  The scholarship will be rewarded to the recipients upon proof of successful completion of the first semester of college.

EWING EDUCATION 

As believers in higher education and wanting to instill the value of a college education in students, the teachers at Ewing Public Schools offer a $200 scholarship to a high school senior who plans to pursue an advanced degree. The scholarship will be awarded the second semester of the applicant's freshman year in college.

To honor his memory scholarship opportunities are given to six area schools and their graduates. One scholarship is granted to a current graduate and the second will be to a graduate who is in his/her second or subsequent year of post-secondary education. Each scholarship is valued at $3,750.00.  For most of his adult life, Lawrence farmed in Antelope County. His Catholic faith and education were important to him. He loved the land and was a life-long learner. His wish was to give area youth an opportunity to further their education, particularly in the area of agriculture.

SCHOLARSHIP

The family of Terry J. Ramold award a $500.00  scholarship to assist in furthering the  higher educational goals of a graduating senior from Ewing High School.  The recipient exhibits a family value along with participation in both civic and school activities. 

 

Terry was involved in helping young individuals find their way in life through his coaching and his school board membership.  He was an active member of his community displaying his strong work ethic, disciplined spirit, and sense of humor which was an inspiration to many.

MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP

The M. Kenneth Drobny Family will offer an annual $300 scholarship for a graduating senior student in the three counties where he lived and worked:  Antelope, Holt, and Knox.  Preference is given to an applicant planning to enroll in a law enforcement-related field.

EWING YOUNG MEMBERS

We like to show our appreciation to those in the community who support Ewing and the efforts that are made to promote the prosperity of our community.  With this in mind, we award 2 scholarships, in the amount of $250.00, to graduating seniors who are planning to further their education.

Due:  April 15

Paul Cooper graduated from Ewing Public School in 1943.  He established a Trust to award a 4, $250.00, scholarships to graduating seniors from Ewing Public Schools who plans to continue their education.  Applicants shall submit a 100 - 200 word letter to the scholarship committee; which should state the applicant's post-secondary interests, school they plan to attend, desired degree, principle needs, and goals.  The applicant should also indicate how they plan to use the scholarship funds to achieve his/her goals.

THE WELLER FOUNDATION

On January 17. 1979, after many years of planning, Ernie and Francis Weller established the institution named "The Weller Foundation," a perpetual non-profit charitable trust that provides scholarships and grants-in-aid to needy students attending Nebraska's two-year community vocational technical colleges.  The foundation distributes grants on the basis of need, not scholastic ability or family ties.

In distributing the grants, preference is given to students residing in six Nebraska counties - Holt, Garfield, Boyd, Keya Paha, Rock and Brown.  Each grant is awarded for a period of two semesters, however persons may reapply for additional grants.  Applicants are awarded the grants one semester at a time.

SCHOLARSHIP

Scholarships will be awarded annually to students who attend or attended schools in Boyd, Holt, or western Knox counties, or are currently residing in these areas.  Applicants must exhibit a history of high character, good citizenship, and moral conduct..

FUTURE BUSINESS

LEADERS OF AMERICA

FBLA is to provide additional opportunities for secondary students to develop leadership and strengthen confidence; to encourage members with individual  projects, and to promote character development, citizenship, patriotism, scholarship, school loyalty, and occupational goals.  This Red Cross/FBLA Scholarship is being offered to a senior who has “Made a Difference.”

MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP

Scotty’s scholarships go to  3 seniors who are planning to attend a 2 year technical college or  trade school since that is what he had planned to do.  Our family is proud to award this memorial for him.

The 1st place recipient will receive $500.00 in 2 disbursements each semester.  The runner-up recipient will receive $200  in 2 disbursements each semester, with the 3rd receiving $100.

MEMORIAL

TIMOTHY J. THRAMER 

The family of Timothy J. Thramer offer a memorial scholarship in his honor .Tim was a student at Ewing Public Schools from kindergarten through his graduation from high school in 1982. Tim was a humble devoted friend who was a “head smart” decision maker. He was full of Tiger Pride and a team player that always worked hard to be successful. Tim earned his Agronomy degree at UNL, then established Thramer Agronomics at Cozad, NE. He was most proud of his beautiful family – wife Cindy, and daughters Molly, Hannah & Abby.

10 $3,000 scholarships will be awarded to graduates of high schools located in, or serving, Holt County.  Preference will be given to applicants who have been long-term participants in 4-H and/or are active members of the Methodist Church in Atkinson or O'Neill; however, these activities are not required of any scholarship recipient.
